Geographic
Location

With my international
clients, the fact that they have worked, studied, lived, or
traveled abroad strengthens their credentials for international
jobs. Therefore, placing the geographic location of their work
experience or schooling in a prominent location can be to their
advantage.
Other times,
it is only part of the overall design of the information. However,
making it prominent does give it more importance, whether that
was the intention or not.
When you
really want the geographic locations of your past experience--or
anything else on your résumé--to stand out, the easiest way
to accomplish that is to make them flush right (Sample
1) or to place them in the left-hand column of the résumé.
Another alternative is to tab to a fixed place on the page
for each location, as in this
example.
All of the
samples in this section will cause problems with a scanner,
since they create multiple columns or place text in usual places,
which confuses the OCR software. To avoid this, tuck the place
names up against the text and use bold or italics to make them
stand out instead.
